Ontario Workers Face Threats from Proposed U.S. Tariffs
Ontario’s main opposition party has condemned U.S. president-elect Donald Trump’s tariff threats as an “existential threat” to the province’s workers. During a visit to Windsor on Monday, NDP Leader Marit Stiles, alongside other local NDP leaders and union representatives, addressed these concerns at the Unifor Local 444/200 union hall. Stiles criticized Premier Doug Ford for focusing on election-related matters rather than collaborating on strategies to protect Ontario’s workers. “This is a terrible position for us to be in, facing down a threat like we are facing right now, which is an existential threat to Ontario jobs and to Canadian sovereignty,” Stiles stated during the press conference.
